This paper discuss women’s participation in the works market and especially in the Brazilian bank sector. The authors collected data about bank workers, their salaries, working time and gender from the RAIS (Annual List of Social Information) data base from 1994 to 2002. We noticed that the percentage of female bank workers is increasing, but they have lower wages and they are concentrated in the thirty-hour working day.
